This sculpture is called “Pi” by Evan Grant Penny and is located at the Toronto Dominion Centre on Wellington street.
Good Morning (Fire Eater)
We had some storms move through last night and rain was predicted for a good bit of today, so when I went outside at 5:30 this morning I was delighted to find lots of small, low, fast-moving clouds streaking across the morning sky. I was not delighted about the constant light rain that was still falling. Local WX RADAR indicated the rain was quickly moving out so I decided to give it a shot. The rain ended just as I was parking and stalking my new vantage point. Maybe John’s cloud-dance worked this time!
The vantage point is OK, but I’m not sure I’m crazy about that 6-story building. There are some trees to the right of it that are sort of in the way as well. If I ever design/build a city, I will do it with photography in mind. There will be lots of great vantage points from which to shoot it, lots of water all around. You know – like Seattle.
Have a great weekend everyone!

The City

Apparently, my most ‘interesting’ shot.
This was a good day for photos…I took this and several others (featured in my photostream) within minutes of each other. A group of us were shooting at this location for an edition of Spanish Vogue (February 2007 issue, I think) so we were hanging out on the rooftop until nightfall. I climbed a ladder to get a better vantage point, when I spotted one of the guys gazing out into the city below….*CLICK!*
Decent amount of post work here…Mostly tinting, sharpening, and dodging / burning. Thanks for the compliments! View LARGE!

An intriging film, Code 46, is set in Shanghai and Dubai, and exploits the city to create a distopian future world.
